Getting started

Here's what actually happens.

The practical stuff - what sessions actually look like, and answers to the questions people usually ask before booking.

Your first step: a free chat

Before anything's booked properly, we have a free 20-minute call - by phone or video. No commitment, no pressure. It's just a chance for you to ask questions and get a feel for whether I'm the right fit, and for me to understand a bit about what's brought you here.

Ongoing sessions

Sessions run 50 minutes, usually weekly, at the same day and time so it becomes a steady part of your routine. I work online via Zoom with clients across the UK, and in person in Prague. We'll agree together how long we work - some people come for a few months, others longer.

Cancellations

Life happens - I ask for at least 48 hours' notice where possible so the slot can be offered to someone else. Sessions cancelled with less notice are charged in full, except in genuine emergencies.

Confidentiality

What you share stays between us, in line with BACP ethical guidelines. The only exceptions are if I believe you or someone else is at risk of serious harm - in which case I'd always aim to discuss this with you first wherever possible.

A few more questions

Do you offer a sliding scale?

I hold a small number of reduced-fee spaces for people who'd otherwise be unable to access support - ask during your free chat and we can talk through it.

Do you work with couples?

Not currently - my work is one-to-one with individuals. If you're looking for couples counselling I'm happy to suggest where to look instead.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule?

Just message or email me as early as you can - see the cancellation policy above for the notice period.

Is this covered by insurance?

Some private health insurers cover counselling - worth checking directly with your provider. I can provide receipts for claims.
